Spring Kit Kat Cake

It is hard to believe it has been five months since I last decorated a cake. I used to make a cake every other week.

I miss decorating cakes, so I thought I would make a fun spring cake for my husband to share with his co-workers. And what is more fun than peeps, robin eggs, and Kit Kat bars.

After I filled and frosted a two layer 9 inch cake, I placed Kit Kat bars around the cake and secured them with two thin pink ribbons. This took about 11 packages of Kit Kat bars. This cake is similar to my Valentine’s Day Kit Kat cake.

Next, I piped green tinted buttercream using Wilton tip 233 to make the grass. This part took forever!

Then I decorated the cake with peeps, chocolate robin eggs, and flowers. I made the flowers (half fondant/half gum paste) with a flower cutter and attached a small fondant ball cut in half to the center. I used a small amount of water to attach the center to the flower.

That’s it, a fun spring cake. This cake would also work as an Easter cake.

  1. Great looking cake, I'm trying this next year for my Neice and nephew, 3&2, you think green tinted coconut would be ok for grass?
